Phillips Hoping For Gresty Road Stay
With Steve Davis stating his intention to sign players up to new contracts, Steve Phillips is one hoping to commit his future to the Alex.
The 33 year old keeper has been in outstanding form for the Alex this season but approaching the end of his one year contract extension, his future is still far from certain.
Having moved up to Cheshire from Somerset since joining the Alex two years ago, Phillips has not only become an integral part of the side but spends his spare time helping coach at the Crewe Alex Soccer Centre & Academy as well as at Liverpool.
Ahead of the return to his former club Bristol Rovers on Saturday, Phillips says he'd like a longer stay at the Alex to help fulfil his coaching ambitions.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Phillips said:
'It's got a good academy and obviously with the Premier League changing the academies structure around I'd like to get involved with that.
'It's a good club, it's got great facilities and we're going in the right direction.'
It's sure going to be a busy time for Steve Davis when it comes to renewing contracts. Phillips is just one of a dozen first team players reaching the end of their deals with the likes of Bell, Artell, Dugdale, Martin, Leitch-Smith and Byron Moore also out of contract this summer.
