Pitman: It was just a great strike
Hereford boss Jamie Pitman takes his hat off to Nick Powell's superb goal but wants his own side to make more of their chances.
It's fair to say Hereford gave us more trouble than expected but for all their work around the penalty area failed to get on the score sheet.
Steve Phillips was only called into make two (fine) saves and he'll no doubt be impressed with the solid defensive line set up by Dugdale & Artell.
Hereford manager Jamie Pitman was understandably frustrated with his team's failure to get even a point out of the match.
'It's hard to take but you've got to keep working at it.
'We've had numerous chances and we must have been in the 15-20 range in the corner count. We've got to make more of those set piece opportunities.'
In the end it was 17 year old Nick Powell who turned the game for Crewe and brought home another three points with another fine goal from distance. Pitman told the BBC post match:
'It was a fine strike. He had a bit too much room but sometimes you have to take your hat off and say it was a great strike.
'I think it would've been a world class save if Cornell had got it, but it was just the pace and the movement.'
