Alex Flag Brought Home To Gresty Road
Crewe fans have raised nearly £500 to bring home a huge Crewe Alex flag.
The flag, which has been on show at the Crewe JJB shop in recent years, was put up for auction by the store earlier this month.
Fans of course recognised that the only rightful place for the flag to go was indeed Gresty Road.
What started as a suggestion on the Vital Crewe message board led to kind pledges from the Crewe ASi and Sandbach Travelling Alex as well as author Jules Hornbrook at the 'She Wore A Scarlet Ribbon' book launch, where a raffle was also held.
In total the flag raised a magnificent £490 for charity with the money being split between childrens charity Whizz Kidz and Macmillan Cancer Care.
Thanks to everyone who donated, no matter how big or small, and especially thanks to Andy Scoffin (aka Railway Man) for organising the fundraising & ensuring the flag came to Gresty Road.
The flag made its debut at the 'She Wore A Scarlet Ribbon' book launch on Friday night but will of course be on show at all future home (and, permission depending, away!) games - starting with today's fixture against Hereford!
