Race Against Time For Reinforcements

Steve Davis is continuing the hunt for new players this week but faces a race against time with the loan window shutting at 5pm on Thursday.

Davis has made no secret of his desire to bring in a big striker and a left back since he was appointed manager two weeks ago.

It has however been a case of easier said than done. Despite earmarking several players, Davis has seen his efforts rebuffed on more than the odd occasion.

This week saw a potential deal for a un-named Championship striker fall through after the club's main front man suffered an injury over the weekend.

Davis & assistant Neil Baker however are slightly more optimistic on bringing in a left back before the weekend, but it won't mean the return of Danny Blanchett.

Davis has dismissed rumours linking Blanchett, who left for Burton Albion on a free in the summer, with a quick return to Gresty Road. Davis however has another League Two full back in his sights and has tasked Baker with sealing the deal.

With less than 48 hours till the loan window shuts for Christmas, it's going to prove a busy week for Davis if he is to get his men.
