'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dario: I won't leave because of supporters

After taking the brunt of a unhappy crowd at Gresty Road today, Dario says supporters calling for him to go will have no effect.

The Alex's afternoon went from bad to worse in a woeful display at Torquay ran out 0-3 winners at Gresty Road. An unsympathetic Alex crowd made their feelings clear both to the team and to Dario about the disjointed performance.

It was quite a contrast from a BBC Football Focus feature earlier this afternoon that had sung the usual praises of Dario's building of the club & longevity.

However, Dario says that fans will have no effect on his position as manager. Speaking after the match and sounding rather rattled, he told BBC Radio Stoke:

'They're not booing the players, they're booing me. That's up to them.

'I won't leave this club because of [the fans], I shall hand over when it suits or when someone else tells me it's time to go. It certainly won't be because of the supporters.'

It's not quite the reaction some fans were hoping to see but neither is it surprising.
