Youngsters Set To Start FA Youth Cup Campaign

The Alex youth team will begin their FA Youth Cup campaign on Tuesday night against Evo-Stik's North Ferriby United in the First Round of the competition.

A mix of youngsters from the U-16s right to the likes of Max Clayton & Nick Powell will make up the side at North Ferriby and the prize at stake is a trip to Huddersfield Town in the second round.

The Youth Cup is one competition the Alex take pretty seriously and have a proud record over recent seasons. Last season we beat Fylde, Tranmere and Bolton before crashing out on penalties, rather harshly, to Leeds United in the fourth round.

2009-2010 also saw penalty heartbreak. Having beaten Leeds and Bradford, we were ahead a couple of times in a 3-3 at holders Arsenal only to see hopes ended in a 5-4 penalty shoot out win for the Gunners.

A good performance in this years cup will go some distance to making a considerable statement over the recent EPPP changes that the Premier League, Football League and Football Association plan to bring in by 2013.

It's a 7:15pm kick off at North Ferriby tomorrow. Ticket prices are £4 Adults, £2 Concessions, £1 U-16s.
