Smith Comes Off The Bench As England Draw

Alex youngster Danny Smith came off the bench as England U-17s were held to a 1-1 draw against Norway in Iceland today.

It was the second game of the Nordic Tournament group stage, with England having beaten Faroe Islands 4-0 on Tuesday.

England took a first half lead against Norway through Derby County's Mason Bennett. However, Norway struck back with a Sorby Stengel penalty with just over 10 minutes left on the clock.

With the game drawn, it oddly went to a penalty shoot-out, which will only count for something if two teams finish level on points in the group stage.

Smith, who played the final 15 minutes, netted one of England's 10 penalties as the young lions eventually won 7-6.

The England youngsters now face Iceland on Friday afternoon with a draw all that's needed for England to win their group.
