Alex Youngster Plays In England Victory
Crewe's Academy youngster Danny Smith helped England U-17s cruise to victory over Faroe Islands U-17s in the Nordic Tournament opener in Iceland today.
Midfielder Smith played 53 minutes of the match as England came out 4-0 victors.
It was Smith's first appearance for England since his call-up in the latest batch of England U-17s, following on from Max Clayton, Nick Powell and Ben Garratt's success throughout last season and this summer.
The Nordic Tournament allows the England set up to assess the latest batch of youngsters and offers a seamless transition from u-16 to U-17 football. Former Alex man Kenny Swain has taken charge of the squad before John Peacock re-takes the reigns for the rest of the year.
England now face Norway tomorrow at 5:00pm BST followed by a Iceland on Friday.
