Two Wins On The Night For Crewe

Newcastle Town 1-3 Crewe Alexandra XI

Quorn 1-9 Crewe Alexandra

Crewe kept up their unbeaten run this pre-season by romping to victory at Quorn whilst the second string saw out a 3-1 victory at Newcastle Town.

With the first 11 at Quorn, there should only ever have been one outcome and Shaun Miller was in the mood for providing it. Miller netted an impressive four goals inside the first half, Westwood and Shelley contributed to make it a rather comfortable 0-6 half time lead.

The Alex didn't let up in the second half. Byron Moore made it seven before Miller netted his fifth of the match. Jason Oswell completed the rout with around 10 minutes left to play. Quorn did manage to pull one back soon after but, as you'd expect, there was no come back.

The second string at Newcastle may not have quite matched the emphatic scoreline in Leicestershire but picked up a decent victory all the same.

Nick Powell took the Alex into half time with a one goal lead after a good finish from the young attacker. Newcastle struck back straight after half time only for trialist Loick Pires and a penalty from Antoni Sarcevic to see off the non-leaguers hopes.
