Josh Gowling Emerges On The Alex's Radar

Former Gillingham defender Josh Gowling is reported to be a target for the Alex this summer. It is thought that Gowling has already held talks with the club having found himself a free agent this summer.

Dario has made no secret of his desire to bring in some defensive re-enforcements following the departures of Danny Blanchett, Mat Mitchel-King and Patrick Ada this summer and 6ft 3in centre back Gowling certainly stands up to Dario's requirements

The 27 year old was released by Gillingham earlier this summer having slowly fallen out of favour at Priestfield last season, a loan move to Lincoln however helped his wrack up 30 appearances overall.

Despite his age, he's already counting up the clubs having started his career at West Brom. He's also had spells at Danish club Herfølge, Bournemouth and Carlisle as well as loan spells with Hereford and another Danish club Ølstykke.

With clubs up and down the country back in pre-season training this week and the transfer window now re-opened, decisions on players' futures are set to come thick and fast. Hopefully the Alex can seal the deal for their first signing of the summer soon, though when it comes to Gowling there is competition for his signature from Lincoln.
