Donaldson Wants Out Of League Two

Donaldson Wants Out Of League Two

Clayton Donaldson's future looks set to be finally sorted in the coming days and it's bad news for his League Two suitors with the 27 year old ruling out an extended stay in League Two.

Donaldson's agent has told The Sentinel that last season's top scorer is not looking to stay in the basement league, with options from League One and the Championship open to him.

It's a blow for the Alex, who tried in vain to keep Dono at Gresty Road with the offer a slice of his future transfer fee, whilst the likes of Bradford, Crawley and Oxford will have to try their luck elsewhere (well, they were pushing it!).

For us, it's less about clutching onto hope ClayDo will remain than getting confirmation of his departure. Donaldson's lack of movement, along with Byron Moore still stalling on a new deal, has prohibited Dario from really getting his summer transfer activity underway.

Once Donaldson and Moore's intentions are made clear we can hopefully prepare for a few incomers, with Halifax's Jamie Vardy and Macclesfield's Tyrone Barnett hotly tipped to fill the void.
