Westy Linked With £600k Forest Move
The Daily Mirror is suggesting that Alex midfielder Ashley Westwood is a £600,000 target for Championship side Nottingham Forest this summer.
Rumours around a move to Forest for Westy have circulated for nearly 12 months now after a superb debut season in 2009/2010, with the likes of Swansea and Leicester also being linked.
The 21 year old perhaps didn't quite reach the heights of his debut season in the one just finished but it seems like it hasn't put off the scouts, and he remains one of our most valuable players.
Being Crewe through and through, Westwood signed an extension to his contract back in November that ties him to the club till 2014. However, with owner Norman Hasall insisting in April that the club will most likely have to sell a player to hold of mounting losses, a sensible offer would no doubt be given serious consideration by the club.
Whether a move would actually benefit Westy at this stage is up for a debate. He certainly didn't set the league alight in the season gone, and he may need another 12-18 months to really find his feet, but it's certainly something that didn't stop James Bailey making the step up at Derby.
