Joel Grant Becomes A Chairboy

Joel Grant has signed for League One new boys Wycombe Wanderers following his release from Gresty Road this summer.

As one of Steve Holland's big money signings, Grant spent three years at the Alex following his 130,000 move from Aldershot in 2008. However, like many of Holland's signings, Grant's time at the Alex never really hit the heights expected.

The 23 year old made over 100 appearances in the red and white of Crewe but never managed to live up to fans expectations of 'the new Rodney Jack'. Despite having pace to burn and a bag of tricks, the end product seemed lacking, and if anything he only frustrated fans.

Dario once claimed Grant could play in the Championship if he knuckled down and found consistency but his failure to really find that consistency and budget constraints meant Grant's future was decided early on.

Grant has signed a two year deal at Adams Park and joins up with Gary Waddock, who was his manager during his Aldershot days.

Good luck to Joel in the future, hopefully a fresh start elsewhere will help him push on in his career.
