Owen Rejects Vale Contract
Crewe Alexandra target Gareth Owen has rejected a new contract at Port Vale amid rumours the centre half is set to sign for the Alex.
BBC Radio Stoke are reporting that the Vale 'Chairman's Player of the Year' told the Valiants that the deal offered was unacceptable.
The Railwaymen are known to have offered Owen a chance to move to Gresty Road this summer, with a two year deal thought to be on the table. However, there still remains interest from Burton Albion amongst others.
It's been suggested that the deal between the Alex and Owen has long been tied up and this news will just add fuel to the fire.
One of Vale's better players, he's played a major part in one of the best defences in League Two. The signing would certainly be a big step in Dario's quest to sure up the back line.
