Powell Injury Not As Bad As Feared

Nick Powell looks to have escaped serious injury after being stretchered off during this afternoon's England U17's 3-0 win over Serbia.

The 17 year old seemed to go over on his ankle chasing down a ball towards the end of the first half, with his knee taking the brunt of it.

There were clearly fears of ligament damage but there could be good news for Alex fans if not England fans.

FA man Nicohlas Veevers Tweeted from Serbia that he injury is not as bad as first feared with Powell leaving the ground unaided. He is to undergo further tests tomorrow once the injury has settled down.

Whilst it looks unlikely he will play any further part in England's UEFA U17 Championships, including a semi final against Netherlands on Thursday, it should at least allay any fears of him missing the start of next season.
