Donaldson Sweeps Season Awards

Clayton Donaldson has been named player of the season by the Crewe ASi after taking his season's goal tally to 28 yesterday.

The former York striker was voted for by fans ahead of competition from the likes of Shaun Miller and Matt Tootle, both of whom have had impressive seasons themselves.

The 27 year old also took the Sandbach Travelling Alex award to make it a clean sweep in the awards he was up for.

They are of course likely to be leaving presents for Donaldson more than anything else with him almost certainly departing the club once his contract expires this summer.

Meanwhile Matt Tootle was voted Young Player of the Season after his outstanding performances at right back this season. The 20 year old has been a real shining light of an otherwise inconsistent Alex defence this season.

Finally, Goal of the Season was awarded for the seventh against Barnet early in the season. A fantastic team goal well finished by Ajay Leitch-Smith, which was the first of his career.
