Dario Decides

Dario Gradi has announced that he will not be offering Scott Davies, Hassan Wissam, Abdoulai Demba or Marcel Mckie a contract at the club. However, central defender Darran Kempson will be offered a 1-year deal.

Davies, McKie and Kempson travelled on the trip to Portugal where they enjoyed mixed fortunes. Darran Kempson was the most impressive of the three, and whilst Scott Davies was said to have decent ability, he made some poor errors throughout the week. McKie, meanwhile, endured a very average start to the week but recovered and was the talk of the camp by the end of the week.

However, all five also featured in the midweek friendlies, albeit largely unsuccessfully. Scott Davies performed unimpressively, whilst Marcel McKie also failed to stand out, and the ex-Tottenham full back is expected to join Barnet. Demba received mixed reviews, though most importantly, failed to impress Dario. Despite nearly scoring twice, Wissam didn't do enough to impress, though he has subsequently agreed a deal with a German club. Kempson, meanwhile, suffered an injury before the end of the first half, but has done enough to merit a one-year deal.

Meanwhile, a tall French striker will arrive in England on Sunday for a trial with the club. Julien Baudet's agent has recommended the striker, who will join fellow forward Bas Savage in the fight for a permanent deal.
