Club Set To Move For Non-League Talent

Dario has confirmed that the club will likely be moving to sign a non-league hotshot this summer and Halifax's Jamie Vardy stands as firm favourite.

At last night's AGM Dario told shareholders that the club have earmarked a striker 'who has been scoring a lot of goals' in the non-league and will make a move for him this summer.

It comes with the expected departure of top goalscorer Clayton Donaldson and talk that his partner in crime Shaun Miller may well be sold to help offset the club's losses this season.

Halifax's Jamie Vardy is one the club are known to have been tracking with both Dario and assistant Steve Davis watching the 23 year old in action in recent weeks. Vardy is not a new name to the club, he spent time on trial at Reaseheath in January 2009 only to miss out on a deal with the arrival of Gudjon Thordarson.

He went on to sign for Halifax in the Evo-Stik Premier Division and already has 24 goals to his name, including eight in his last four games.

With the likes of Rotherham, Bradford, Oldham and Peterborough also showing an interest, Halifax extended Vardy's contract to 2014 last week, a deal likely to maximise the Shaymen's profit this season - as we saw when Jordan Connerton signed a new contract at Lancaster shortly before his move to Gresty Road.
