'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Successor? He could be too old by then!

Dario has played down any suggestion that assistant boss Steve Davis should be taking the manager's job any time soon.

The 8-1 demolition of Cheltenham was overseen by Davis after a throat infection saw Dario return home prior to kick off. Inevitably there were post-match calls from fans for Davis to be given the manager's job full time.

Whilst Davis certainly seems to be the man being primed as Dario's (latest) successor, Dario has put pay to a change in management happening any time soon. The 69 year old told the Official Website that talk of a successor is pointless right now...

'Talking about my successor is not an issue for me at the moment because it is like asking Fergie who his is? Maybe Steve will be too old by then!

'Who knows what might happen in the future but I'm sure that he could be. I still do the vast majority of the coaching and Steve assists me. He will become a lot more involved in the coaching next season as well.

It may come as a disappointment to some but certainly doesn't come as a surprise. Dario really seems to have fallen back in love with the job since re-taking the reigns following Gudjon Thordarson's departure.
