Tonks in Rangers Trial

Tonks in Rangers Trial

Former Crewe defender Anthony Tonkin is on trial with Championship outfit Queen's Park Rangers. The defender was released at the end of last season, after Dario concluded that it was best to cut our losses on a player who cost £150k from Stockport in 2003.

Tonkin made 93 appearances for Crewe, although he never scored a goal. Tonkin was regularly lambasted by Crewe fans, with his defensive ineptitude contributing to a leaky Crewe defence. Tonkin's pace saw him get forward on a regular basis, albeit with mixed effect, as he produced just 3 assists during that time.

Tonkin has already attracted the attention of former club Yeovil, though they were unsure if he could transfer his good form with them in the Conference to a higher division.

Crewe move up with victory

Crewe Alexandra are now unbeaten in four games after a welcome 2-0 win over Rochdale.

Striker Marcus Haber put them in front on the half-hour when a corner wasn't properly cleared and Brad Inman doubled their lead just prior to half-time.

Ian Henderson earlier headed wide for the visitors but Haber made no mistake when turning in at the other end after George Cooper's corner was missed.

However, it needed goalkeeper Ben Garratt to respond as Peter Vincenti sought an equalise
