The Daily Mail are reporting that the Alex have completed the signing of defender Reece Wabara on loan from Manchester City.
The news should probably come as no surprise, with Dario revealing last week that a move for a unnamed City defender, thought to be Wabara, only fell through at the last minute due to Kolo Toure's failed drug test. Dario has since been in constant contact with City coach David Platt in order to get the deal going again.
The Mail reports "[Wabara] has now been given the nod to head out and help the League Two side`s promotion push".
Pfft, promotion push.
But hold your horses as Wabara himself doesn't even seem to know it's happened yet. Tweeting on Twitter last night when shown the news article, Wabara simply put: 'first I knew about that'.
However, with Dario known to be keen on completing the deal sooner rather later, the Daily Mail may actually not be far wrong. Their trusty Manchester City sources may have come up trumps for this Crewe Alexandra exclusive.
It would certainly be a welcome signing if completed in time for tomorrow's game against high scoring and league leading Chesterfield. Wabara, a 19 year old centre back, has been knocking on the first team door at Eastlands as injuries set in and Kolo Toure tried out some 'dieting pills' and was recently named on the first team bench for the FA Cup tie against Aston Villa.
If Wabara does indeed join the Alex, it'll be nice for the young defender hear "Blue Moon (the terrace chant)" from its very birthplace.
