Moore To Leave At The End Of The Season?

Byron Moore looks likely to turn down a new contract at Gresty Road in favour of a move to League One.

The 22 year old winger is the final of the academy lads to decide on his contract after Shaun Miller, Luke Murphy, Matt Tootle, Ashley Westwood, Ajay Leitch-Smith and Danny Shelley all extended their deals with the club.

Moore made it known with his agent, former Stoke defender Clive Clarke, towards the end of last year that he would not be rushing to sign any deal despite being offered a two year extension by Dario.

Dario stated at the time he felt Moore would eventually sign the deal offered but with Moore, and more importantly his agent, eyeing up a move to League One, it seems like Dario has lost out.

There is now talk that Moore will make a move into League One in the summer, leaving the Alex recouping just a small sum in compensation.

Moore will depart having come through the club's academy to make over 130 appearances for the first team since Steve Holland handed him his debut in 2007.

The sickener for fans will be that Byron only ever really cemented his place as one of the first names on the team sheet this season. Having seen better players sign long term deals with the club so both parties get a good deal on their eventual departure, Moore's 'jumping ship' approach will leave fans slightly disgruntled.
