Trio Back In England Squad

Crewe's young trio of Ben Garratt, Nick Powell and Max Clayton have been called up to the England U-17 squad.

They will be travelling to Belgium to compete in a UEFA Elite Round Qualifying tournament, the final stage of qualifying for this summer's Under-17 European Championship.

They will be playing the likes of Northern Ireland, Belgium and Spain over the course of the week from March 26th, meaning Powell will miss first team action for the trip to Hereford.

The news comes as no surprise as Garratt, Powell and Clayton have wracked up a fair few caps between them and remain the only youngsters from the basement division to receive call-ups.

Garratt and Clayton were last in international action just a couple of weeks ago for a friendly tournament in the Algarve. Playing three games over four days against Romania, Germany and Portugal, the pair both got two starts and a sub appearances under their belts.
