Dario: We Need To Keep Possession Better

Dario was far from happy with his forwards after Bury's 12 minute turn around condemned us to our fifth defeat in six games.

Although the Alex remain joint top scorers of League Two, alongside leaders Chesterfield, the forward line looked a shadow of its former self despite Dario going all-out with a ambitious 4-2-4 formation.

Clearly bored of rolling out the usual list of criticisms towards the defence, Dario rounded on Moore, Miller, Donaldson and Leitch-Smith following the match on Saturday, saying they didn't do their jobs in keeping the ball up front.

'We can criticise the defending and I'm sure we will when we view the DVD of the game again, but there wasn't the same mistakes we made at Accrington. That was a real comedy of errors.

'You have to credit Bury for the quality of their two goals today. They had more experienced and strong players than us and we have to try and develop our players to be better in possession.

'We played with the four up there at times and it doesn't matter where I play them they still struggle to keep the ball. It is nothing new.'

Whilst you can you see Dario's frustrations, I don't think the forwards were to blame for yet another capitulation. After failing to keep a lead, or even a draw, for more than a few minutes at Accrington on Tuesday night, it took Bury just 12 minutes to go from 0-1 to 3-1 and put the game to bed.

I suppose it's Dario's 'attack is the best form of defence' belief shining through. If the attackers can't keep the ball up front then the defence stands no chance. Other managers would probably be looking at the defence first off.
