&datebackcFormer Alex boy Ryan Lowe scored for the 7th consecutive game yesterday, equalling a Bury FC record.
It had to be, didn't it?
He spent two years at the club, making over 60 appearances, before Dario & Steve Holland told him he wouldn't be offered a new contract in 2008 as the club looked, and failed, to improve on a 20th placed finish in League One.
He's since spent his time as one of League Two's most prolific scorers, scoring 16 for Chester in their final season as a League club before a move to Bury, which has produced 40 goals in 71 starts.
He's now the one striker keeping Rotherham's Adam le Fondre from dominating the scoring charts yet again. Lowe's eight goals in his last seven matches has taken his tally to an impressive 22.
With goals in seven consecutive matches, he is now one match and one goal away from beating Bury's long standing record that Jon Parker set for the Shakers in 1957 with seven in seven.
It is a great coincidence that Bury's next match is against the club he spent five years at and indeed started his scoring run against back in January - Shrewsbury Town.
You have to say good luck to Lowe. He gave us his all during his time at the club but, whilst we look on in envy right now, the decision to let him go in 2008 was at the time the right one.
He never managed to hit the heights in League One as he has hit in League Two but he did show glimpses of it - not many will have forgotten his hat-trick against Carlisle.
