Cobblers Manager Looks Forward To Match

Northampton Town manager Ian Sampson says 'the Crewe way' is a good model for any football club and would like his club to follow in the Alex's footsteps.

Alex fans don't need to be told of the players Dario has brought through, or the fact the money from sales has been ploughed back into the club and training ground - something that has come in very useful in the recent freezing weather.

Whilst many clubs in the current climate struggle to keep the creditors happy, the Alex are happily ticking along with a balance sheet in the green more often than not.

Manager of Saturday's opponents Northampton, Ian Sampson told The Herald and Post that it is a model he would like the Cobblers to follow in order to progress.

'I think it's a good model.

"If we could get that at this club then it would put us on a sound footing for developing players, particularly young players.

"It would be nice if we could get our own training ground and follow in the footsteps of Crewe, produce young players, maybe sell them on and keep some to keep the club going, and progress up the leagues as well.'

Both teams are set to take to the pitch for the first time in three weeks tomorrow afternoon and a win for both sides is important in order to stay in touch with the play-off places, with Northampton going above ourselves if they claim the three points even though they currently sit five places below us in the table.

Sampson though is looking forward to a good game and expects to face Dario's usual style of play.

'They score quite a lot of goals, they're a young team and I know Dario always gets his teams playing football.

"His record speaks for itself because he has been a manager for many years. We're looking forward to it and I think it will be a good game.'
