Former Alex Defender Released By Shrews

Former Alex defender Danny O'Donnell has been released by Shrewsbury just six months after signing for the League Two club.

The 24 year old signed a six month deal back in August after being released from Gresty Road following the expiration of his deal here. He went on to make just five appearances for Shrewsbury with injuries hampering his time at the club.

O'Donnell originally signed for the Alex from Liverpool in a loan deal back in 2006. That loan move became permanent in 2007 after the Alex, shockingly, coughed up £100,000 for his services. He went on to make over 70 appearances in three years at Gresty Road.

One other former Alex player has also been released this week with former striker Luke Rodgers cutting ties with Notts County. The thoroughly dislikable 28 year old is still hoping to make the move to the USA having seen a move to the MLS collapse in the summer.
