'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dario Not In Favour Of Winter Break

Despite seeing five Alex games fall victim to the snow and ice in recent weeks, Dario is not joining any calls for a winter break in English football.

Whilst some want to try and reduce the amount of games falling victim to recent cold snaps, Dario says there is no need for it and it would only give the big clubs the chance to make even more money.

Speaking to the official website Dario said football should be played in the winter months and summer is a time for rest.

If there was a winter break over Christmas and into the New Year then I am sure the bigger clubs would go aboard to play exhibition games to raise more money.

'A winter break would mean extending the season and I am not in favour of that. I don't think football should be played in the summer months. Weather like this doesn't occur all the time and the snow doesn't last as long.

'Most managers, like the players need a rest at the end of the season.'

And he's correct. Playing well into June or even July in order to get out of the cold is a barmy idea. We've tried Christmas without football now and it is frankly painful so let's not go down that road... and, let's face it, some would only take the opportunity to complain it was too hot!
