Phillips to leave as Taylor commits

Just months after signing a two year contract with the club on the understanding he'd be first choice keeper for the Alex, Steve Phillips is to leave on a loan deal as Dario keeps faith in loaner keeper Rhys Taylor.

Taylor only arrived in the summer from Chelsea to cover for the three months Phillips was expected to be out, having had a shoulder operation in May. The deal was soon extended to the end of the season and has seen a now fit again Phillips frozen out of the side.

Dare says that Phillips can now go out on loan to get games under his belt after Taylor committed to the rest of the season at Gresty Road. There were fears the Chelsea keeper could have been ready to leave early in order to gain a move to a higher division, but Dario says that the 20 year old has confirmed he's ready to see out the season in a Crewe shirt.

With Bartek Fogler, who has only ever been on a month to month deal, ready to cover as second choice keeper, Steve Phillips has been well and truly snubbed.

Where this will leave us in the summer when Taylor departs and Phillips, more than likely, will want a permanent move away.... Well, it's back to square one of scraping around for a decent keeper.

There isn't much between Taylor and Phillips in terms of ability. Phillips is a very good keeper at this level and, seeing as he's 'our own' then we should be 100% behind him and we should have kept to our word and put him in the side once fit.
