Toots Extends Contract By Another Year

Matt Tootle has signed a years extension to his contract meaning his contract will now not expire until summer of 2014. It's a bit of a surprise the club have extended a deal that still had three years to run but shows Dario's intent on trying to keep the club's youngsters for as long as possible.

Tootle has only been in the first team a year, making his debut last November at Northampton Town. He's since cemented his place at full back and without doubt one of the first names on Dario's team sheet on match day.

Focus now turns to contracts that are in more urgent need of extending. The likes of Luke Murphy, Byron Moore, Shaun Miller, Patrick Ada, Ajay Leitch-Smith and Danny Blanchett are all in the final year of their current deals with fans hoping the majority, at least, will be retained.

The big money signings of Grant, Zola and Donaldson are also on expiring contracts. Dario has already confirmed the trio will be offered extensions but admitted it's unlikely they will take the required reduction in wages. Shame...
