Dario Pleased With Discipline At Vale

Dario says he is pleased with the way the players reacted to Port Vale being awarded a dodgy penalty in Saturday's game at Vale Park.

Despite Rhys Taylor clearly getting a hand to the ball and pushing it away from Roberts, who then looked to go to ground, the referee gave Vale what ultimately proved the match winning penalty.

It'd have been very easy for Crewe Alex players - and manager - to have felt sorry for themselves and rolled over for the remaining 30 minutes - and continue to bring the decision up in seven months time.

Instead, we had the better of the remainder of the game, with Donaldson pulling one back from the spot after Anthony Griffith had punched the ball clear, and only Stuart Tomlinson's man of the match performance denying a late equaliser.

Dario told crewealex.net that he was pleased with the attitude of his players:

'Last season we had a controversial penalty go in our favour and it proved to be the right decision. This season, we have had another controversial penalty given against us that wasn't. There you are.

'What did please me was the discipline and attitude of the players. It was good because they didn't think it was a penalty and it could have affected them. Instead we got ourselves going again, got a goal back and finished the game strongly.'
