Westy To Forest This January?

Westy To Forest This January?

Ashley Westwood has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest this January by a few national newspapers. Billy Davies's men are reported to be ready to stump up around £750,000 for the Crewe born midfielder.

The rumours come as no surprise, the majority of fans expected Westy to depart Gresty Road in the summer after a brilliant first season from the academy saw him take a clean sweep of the Player of the Season awards. Instead it was his midfield team mate James Bailey who, along with John Brayford, made the million pound move to Derby County.

The 20 year old hasn't quite lived up to summer expectations this season but, with six assists already this season, he still remains an integral part of Dario's starting 11 with Lee Bell in the Alex midfield. He has also been given the role as one of the club's three captains, which he shares with Dave Artell and Lee Bell.

An Alex fan, Westy has long said he'd love to stay at the Alex to become a Gresty Road legend; but when money is calling for both player and CAFC, it'd be unlikely either would turn it down. Whether he's ready for the jump to the Championship is another matter.
