FA Youth Cup Report: Crewe 4-0 Fylde

Crewe Alexandra's under 18 academy are through to the second round of the FA Youth Cup this evening after a convincing win over non-league Fylde. The gap between the two sides showed through on the night after Fylde had come through some four rounds just to reach the first round proper.

Striker Harry Clayton got things off the mark with his eighth of the season on just 17 minutes, converting the rebound after Nick Powell, fresh from England U-17 duty, had hit the post. Powell had missed a host of first half chances but managed to make up for it second before the half time whistle, Michael Koral's cross set the 16 year old up nicely to double the lead.

Koral went from provider to scorer in the second half, firing in off the post in the 73rd minute and four minutes later midfielder Sean Cooke ensured it was a convincing victory with a penalty he had won himself.

In the end it was a comfortable night for the Alex hopefuls, though you have to give credit to Fylde who have done remarkable for coming this far in the competition.

There was a decent turn out on the night from Alex fans with the official attendance at 395.

The Alex now await the draw for the second round, hoping for another "easy" tie before the big boys, such as Arsenal and Chelsea, enter the competition.
