Powell Lasts 90 But England Are Held
Nick Powell played the full 90 minutes for England U-17s today in their European Championships qualifier against Georgia this afternoon. It was disappointment in Tbilisi however, as the Georgians held the Three Lions to a 1-1 draw.
The in-form Everton youngster Hallam Hope had put England ahead after just 9 minutes only to see the lead surrendered in the second half with Georgia's Bachana Arabuli netting on the hour mark. Powell played the entire match, having been substituted against Sweden on Monday, whilst Ben Garratt was an unused sub.
It leaves both England and Georgia on four points in Group Three of qualifying, with England needing just a point on Saturday against Poland to secure a top 2 finish and progress to the next round of qualifying in Spring.
