Powell Plays Part In England Victory

Alex striker Nick Powell played 65 minutes for the England U-17s as they got their European Championship qualifying campaign off to a perfect start.

A first half brace from Everton's Hallam Hope and a third from Portsmouth's Sam Magri saw off Sweden in Georgia on Monday afternoon.

Powell managed 65 minutes before being subbed for West Ham's Blair Turgott. Alex goalkeeper Ben Garratt was an unused substitute for the game.

England are now preparing for Wednesday's game with Georgia, prior to playing Poland on Saturday. Both Powell and Garratt will then be back at the Alex next week with Powell, hopefully, fit enough to be in contention to face Port Vale on October 30th.
