&maxoutputDario was happy to entertain again but couldn't help but rue defensive mistakes yet again. We've now seen 22 goals fly in in our last three games this week and unfortunately only 12 have been in the opposition net.
It's made Alex games the best value for money in the country but does nothing to satisfy supporters wanting wins on the board. Despite coming back from 3-1 down against Torquay yesterday to earn a draw, there was still a sense that we threw away the game. All three of Torquay's goals can easily be put down to poor defending and it leaves you wondering if the defensive performance of the first two months was a mere purple patch.
Following the game Dario spoke to BBC Radio Stoke and admitted that more defensive work will have to be done on the training ground:
'I'm going to recommend to the chairman that we increase the entrance fee because the level of entertainment has increased!
'I think the boys did well and played decent football but made a lot of mistakes. I think Bell had a nightmare game but he's still the one pulling the strings and you know he's not going to fall apart.
'Dave Artell was well out of position for the first goal and I don't think the goalkeeper (Rhys Taylor) was too clever either. He wasn't ready for the header that actually went over his head.
'We don't want to be conceding corners like that and we looked a bit more wobbly at the back than we had done, but Patrick (Ada) got better as the game went on and Benyon started to look less dangerous.
'I think Artell and Bell are crucial to our character, that's why it'd never occur to me to take either of them off. They are my lieutenants out on the pitch and the players respond well to them.
'It's another one of those games we might have got three points, Nick (Powell) had a great chance to head one in, but all things considered I think we're just about satisfied with a point.
'They were dangerous but we ran the game.'
