Zola Now Set For Shrewsbury?

Calvin Zola is now reportedly set for a loan move to League Two rivals Shrewsbury Town having turned down Bradford, Burton and Southend.

The 25 year old has been on the look out for a move away from Gresty Road after finding first team opportunities hard to come by this season - despite scoring 18 goals last season. Shaun Miller, Clayton Donaldson and Ajay Leitch-Smith have all jumped ahead of him in the pecking order.

With his contract up this summer, Dario is looking to offload Zola, and his big wages, early as he tries to find goals in his academy youngsters, and Clayton Donaldson.

Last week Zola turned down Southend due to the location whilst Bradford and Burton Albion also seemed to get snubbed. The latter however are still interested in the big Congolese striker; Burton boss Paul Peschisolido says that he'd still like to complete a deal but it seems like Zola had a change of heart.

Speaking to The Burton Mail, Peschisolido said:

"I was getting really excited because Zola is a player I admire and would be massive for our club.

"I`d spoken to Crewe and to all intents and purposes it was a done deal between the clubs, but somewhere along the line there seems to have been a change of heart."

Zola is now set to sign a loan deal for 4th placed Shrewsbury Town, according to Radio Stoke. Though you cannot rule out a last minute hitch.
