Zola Nets A Brace For Reserves

Calvin Zola has responded to a week of transfer speculation by scoring twice for the reserves against Barrow. After being told by Dario that he can leave on loan, Zola has been linked with Bradford City, Burton Albion and Southend United though has turned moves to the latter two down.

It looks like he could now remain at Gresty Road for the time being having come on for the final three minutes of last night's 4-2 win at Macclesfield before playing in today's reserve friendly.

Calvin netted twice in the 5-2 win at Reaseheath after an opener from youngster Nick Powell. Danny Shelley also got a couple, taking his season's tally for the reserves to five. Goalkeeper Steve Phillips marked his return after spending over five months out following a double shoulder operation.

Mat Mitchel-King also got a run out with the rest of the reserve side largely made up of youngsters, including two un-named trialists.

Reserve side: Steve Phillips, Mat Mitchel-King, Adam Dugdale, Harry Davis, trialist, trialist, Dan Shelley, Antoni Sarcevic, Kelvin Mellor, Nick Powell, Calvin Zola, Lewis Short, Oliver Turton
