Max Clayton May Require Op

Young Max Clayton could require minor surgery to repair a tear in his knee cartilage according to the official site. Clayton, who turned 16 last month, has been to see specialist Dai Rees to have scans, with a cartilage tear the most likely diagnosis.

It'll be a blow for the youngster with Clayton having trained with the first team for the last month or so, still awaiting his first team debut. Whilst his England U-17 team mate Nick Powell is already making an impact off the bench, Dario has commented that whilst Clayton isn't quite ready for the rigors of first team action he'll 'be only too glad when he is'.

Should Clayton make his first team debut before Christmas he'll become the youngest ever Alex player, ahead of Steve Walters who made his debut at 16 years and 119 days on 6th May 1989.
