August Player of the Month - Rhys Taylor
On loan goalkeeper Rhys Taylor has been named Vital Crewe's Player of the Month for August 2010.
Despite coming in merely as cover for the injured Steve Phillips, the Chelsea keeper has more than impressed in his first seven games for the Railwaymen.
Averaging one goal conceded per game, Taylor's helped convert the Alex defence from a horror show into a fairly respectable back line.
Taylor wins the award with a convincing 42% of the vote having passed captain David Artell late in the running. Artell eventually finished with just 15% of the vote, Patrick Ada come second with 25%.
It's nice to note that the three players in the running for the award were all defenders (or goalkeepers).
But we have to come clean... the results may well be dodgier than the Pakistan cricket team. Taylor's jump in popularity coincided with a certain article on the site. Now, we don't want to suggest any wrong doing but a few fingers from Vital Chelsea may well have slipped. We don't know.
Nonetheless, congratulations to Taylor and it's still thoroughly deserved.
