Crewe Get Bye In JPT

Crewe have been given a bye into the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Alex are one of sixteen sides to be given a bye and it means we've already had a more successful campaign than last season.... Without kicking a ball.

We were of course dumped out of the Paint Pot last season by a 4-1 drubbing from Stockport County at Gresty Road. Going out of the League Cup and FA Cup in the first rounds to Blackpool and York respectively also topped off a pretty lousy season both in cups and the league.

The first round of the JPT trophy is due to be drawn later in August with the first round played in the first week of September, though we obviously get a week off.

For now though the Football League have announced the Northern and Southern sections as well as the byes...

Northern Section - West - Accrington Stanley, Macclesfield Town, Morecambe, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Rochdale, Shrewsbury Town, Tranmere Rovers

Northern Section - East - Chesterfield, Hartlepool United, Lincoln City, Northampton Town, Notts County, Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday, Walsall

Southern Section - West - AFC Bournemouth, Aldershot Town, Exeter City, Oxford United, Southampton, Swindon Town, Torquay United, Yeovil Town

Southern Section - East - Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Charlton Athletic, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gillingham, Leyton Orient, Southend United, Stevenage

Byes Awarded:

Northern Section - Bradford City, Burton Albion, Bury, Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra, Huddersfield Town, Peterborough United, Stockport County

Southern Section - Barnet, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham Town, Colchester United, Hereford United, Milton Keynes Dons, Plymouth Argyle, Wycombe Wanderers
