Rejects Find New Clubs

Three former Alex players have hitched themselves up with new clubs this week.

Former 'sick note' defender Chris McCready has found a new club in Morecambe following his release from Northampton Town. The 22 year old joins the Shrimps on a two year contract as Morecambe's replacement for David Artell.

McCready played over 100 games for the Alex over eight years and two separate spells but a horrendous injury record saw him struggle to hold down a first team place. He was released by Gudjon Thordarson last summer, eventually signing for Northampton Town.

Meanwhile, Anthony Elding has finally returned to England after a brief spell with Hungarian club Ferencváros. He's signed a two year contract with League One Rochdale for a reported fee of £100,000 - quite how he's still commanding such fees is a mystery.

It'll be third time lucky at League One level for Elding. After a unspectacular six month spell with Leeds, Elding managed just one league goal in 26 appearances and two years at Gresty Road before his contract was eventually cancelled.

He, however, will not be joined by Danny O'Donnell. The Liverpudlian failed to impress during a trial at Spotland.

Finally, Gary Roberts has completed his move to Port Vale on a six month deal. The time bomb is now ticking.
