Five Star Alex: Nantwich 0-5 Crewe

Crewe claimed another win this pre-season with a 5-0 thrashing of neighbours Nantwich Town.

The Alex fielded a somewhat fringe side at the Weaver Stadium but needed no help to keep up our 100% record for the pre-season schedule. Former Nantwich defender Kelvin Mellor got first half brace whilst youngster Ajay Leitch-Smith got a second half double. Trialist Jimmy McCarthy, who surely must be in with a good chance of a deal, also got a goal.

As always, there's not much to truly take out of the game itself but completing a perfect record in pre-season can only help confidence going into the new season.

1,092 were in attendance.

Team: Bartek Fogler, Danny Shelley, Mat Mitchel-King, Dan Ting, Adam Dugdale, Joel Grant, Kelvin Mellor, Antoni Sarcevic, Danny Maguire, Byron Moore, Jimmy McCarthy

Subs: AJ Leitch Smith, Harry Davis, Jordan Connerton, Andy White
