Blanchett Completes Move To Gresty Road

Former Peterborough defender Danny Blanchett has put pen to paper on a 12 month contract at Crewe.

Blanchett has spent over a month on trial at the club and having played in three pre-season friendlies he has done enough to earn himself a deal at the club.

A product of the QPR youth system, Blanchett had to come through the non-league pyramid after failing to earn a professional contract at Rangers. He eventually joined Peterborough from Cambridge in 2007 for an undisclosed fee. He made just seven appearances for the League One club, eventually spending time out on loan at the likes of Hereford United and AFC Wimbledon last year.

The 23 year old is now likely to go straight into Dario's first 11 for the start of the new season and end's the club's search for a recognised left back having been snubbed by Burton's Aaron Webster and former loanee Chris Stokes fail to impress sufficiently during his trial.

After signing the contract, Blanchett told the official website:

'I am ecstatic with the contract and words cannot describe what it means to sign a deal at a club like Crewe.

'It is brilliant for me and although I knew there were other clubs interested once I knew that Crewe were interested there was only place I wanted to go.'

So, welcome to Danny from all at Vital Crewe.

It's likely that'll be the end of our transfer dealings for the summer - perhaps bar a rookie or two - so, everyone happy going into the new season?
