Crewe 1-0 WBA

Crewe kept up their 100% pre-season record with a 1-0 home win against a West Bromwich Albion XI.

The Baggies fielded next to no first teamers having just arrived back from a week in Holland. Former Aston Villa striker Luke Moore, defender Leon Barnett and former Rotherham striker Reuben Reid were the more senior names of the Albion 11, though none are considered part of the first team at The Hawthorns.

Dario meanwhile started with what could be his starting 11 come August 7th. Danny Blanchett was the only trialist named in the starting line up as fellow left back trialist Chris Stokes turned out for Walsall this evening.

The only goal of the game came through midfielder Luke Murphy who got on the end of a Matt Tootle cross on the hour mark, proving enough to win the tie.

As always, friendlies tell us nothing but four wins out of four so far this summer cannot do us any harm. Let's just hope we carry it beyond meaningless friendlies.

Crewe: Rhys Taylor, Matt Tootle, Patrick Ada, David Artell, Danny Blanchet, Luke Murphy, Lee Bell, Ashley Westwood, Clayton Donaldson, Calvin Zola, Byron Moore

West Brom: Ryan Allsop,Cameron Gayle,Kayleden Brown,Sam Mantom, Leon Barnett, Paul Downing,Reuben Reid,George Thorne,Marcus Haber,Luke Moore,Lateef Elford-Alliyu
