We travel to Lancaster City tonight for the third of the summer's pre-season friendlies and, despite the resting a few first teamers, Dario promises to field a strong side.
Having beaten both Quorn and Kidsgrove on Monday night the pre-season 'campaign' got off to the perfect start and with the new season just three weeks away performances will have to be taken up a notch with every passing friendly.
A trip to the 'Giant Axe' ground is bound to prove a slightly tougher test than that of Quorn and Kidsgrove. Last season Lancaster were on the cusp of promotion to the Unibond Premier Division, only to miss out in the play-offs.
One man they have to thank and will get to thank for much of last season's success is new Alex recruit Jordan Connerton, who of course signed from the Dolly Blues back in March.
With the friendly part of an agreement in the transfer of Connerton, the 20 year old is as such one certainty to be in the action tonight.
However, Dario is looking to rest of or two of his more senior players. Though 'resting' seems absurd after one game in 2 months.
Former Morecambe man Dave Artell, star striker Calvin Zola and midfielder Ashley Westwood - all of who played 90 minutes on Monday - could be left out of tonight's travelling 18 man squad. In their place, however, will not be kids - as Dario has vowed to field a strong side.
But there will be place for one or two trialists as Dario says he will look to make his mind up on the remaining hopefuls following the game.
Left back Danny Blanchett is more than likely to get another chance to impress, as could other left back Chris Stokes. The much talked about Jimmy McCarthy is also in line to make an appearance.
