Schumacher Signs For Bury

Released midfielder Steven Schumacher has completed a move to League Two rivals Bury.

The former Everton trainee departed Gresty Road after the club decided against offering the 26 year old a renewed contract having had an injury ravaged three years at the club.

With the emergence of the likes of Ashley Westwood, Luke Murphy and the now departed James Bailey, Schumacher found it hard to secure a place in the starting 11 last season.

Having weighed up his options over the summer, Schumacher signed a two year deal with the Shakers last week. Manager Alan Knill says that Schumacher will go in to replace last season's star midfielder Stephen Dawson.

"He didn`t want to rush into anything at first because he felt he did that with Crewe and in, his own mind, it wasn`t the greatest move for him.

"Steven likes to put his foot on the ball, pass it and is very mobile. He is a replacement for Stephen Dawson really.

"He is not as physical as Dawson but I think we can make him into that.
