'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Walton Thanks Dario

Last season's loanee midfielder Simon Walton has thanked Dario Gradi for helping get his career back on track.

The 22 year old spent last season on loan at Gresty Road after being brought in by former manager Gudjon Thordarson, but it was Dario who showed faith in Walton upon his return to the hot seat - making him a mainstay of the Alex midfield.

Having now signed on a season long loan at Sheffield United from parent club Plymouth Argyle, Walton says that Dario's tough approach helped settled down having had a turbulent couple of years in the game.

Speaking to the official Sheffield United website, Walton said:

'I must thank Dario and Crewe for helping me out. A man of his experience got my feet back on the ground and I began to enjoy my football again.

'I had a poor disciplinary record in the past and there is no way I would have got away with the things I did in the past under Dario.

'I can only thank the club for what they did for me and now I want to take my chance.'
