Baudet Set to Sign

Crewe have reached a verbal agreement with out-of-contract defender Julien Baudet. The 27-year old defender is out-of-contract at Notts County, where he was captain last season. Notts County offered the 6'3 centre-back a new two-year deal, but after a period of consideration, the Frenchman has instead opted to join Crewe. Subsequently, Notts County have mutually agreed to immediately terminate Baudet's registration, enabling him to sign for the South Cheshire club in the coming days.

Baudet made 45 starts for the Magpies last season, missing only the one game through suspension. Baudet was County's second highest scorer last season with an impressive 7 goals. However, he was also their most ill-disciplined player, receiving 8 yellow cards and 1 red card. Baudet made 89 appearances for Notts County during his two seasons with the club, having joined them on a free transfer from Rotherham. He is capable of playing in defence or midfield, though he has been increasingly deployed as a central defender in recent years.

Julien was born near Grenoble, where he grew up and he almost became a professional skier. However, he instead opted to join French club Toulouse, where he made the occasional first time appearance. Baudet nearly joined Crystal Palace but instead signed for Oldham in order to play first team football. After a spell with Rotherham, Baudet moved on to Notts County.

Dario has had a distant interest in Baudet for some time now. His height and powerful build made him an obvious possibility for the 'dominant defender' role.

Vital Crewe has brought you this story in recent weeks, with the news of an imminent decision revealed earlier today: Dario Awaits Decision, whilst Vital Crewe also revealed Dario's interest in an out-of-contract centre back a few days ago: Crewe Chase Free Agent
