Arsenal Eye Up Academy Star Powell

Arsenal are said to be keen on the Alex's 16 year old academy midfielder Nick Powell.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been recommended the youngster after scouts watched him during his recent performances for England U-16s.

Powell of course is not the first from his age group to attract interest from one of Europe's heavyweights. His 15 year old team mate Max Clayton has been linked with big money moves to Liverpool numerous times over the last 18 months.

The pair are said to be two of the highest rated players to come out of the club's renowned academy system and only a couple of months ago Dario couldn't hide his delight when, along with three of their U-16 team mates, they penned four year professional contracts with the club.

Dario has already stated that both Powell and Clayton could well break into the first team within the next 12 months, with only their physique stopping him giving them their first team debuts towards the end of the season just gone.

With young English talent at a premium it could yet be that a move could be on the cards before debuts are made. The big clubs are tending to pay up early for English talent these days and if Arsenal offer a fee in it's millions, the club may well be faced with a dilemma.
